Ways to Volunteer
St. Francis Children’s Center offers fulfilling volunteer opportunities that help contribute to the success of our organization and the children we serve. Here are some of our current opportunities:
Class Room Assistant Volunteer
Classroom Assistants in our Early Childhood Education classrooms interact with young children with and without special needs. Responsibilities include facilitating their learning during activities and projects, monitoring and engaging with them during indoor and outdoor play, and assisting with classroom tasks and chores as directed by the teaching staff. Our classrooms are open from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm on weekdays, and we ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of two hours per week. All classroom volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
Family Activity Center Aide
Our Family Activity Center (FAC) offers free drop-in programming to children with special needs and their families. Programming includes play time, planned activities, special events and parent support. Volunteer responsibilities will include playing with the children, assisting staff with FAC activities and events and organizing toys and supplies.
We also need individuals and corporate groups to volunteer their time to help out with our annual Wine, Beer & Chocolate Tasting in the spring and other special events.
Special Events
St. Francis Children’s Center hosts several fundraising events each year, including the Awards Banquet and our Wine, Beer & Chocolate Tasting, where we could use additional help on the day of the event. Volunteer duties include taking tickets, handing out food and beverage samples, assisting with raffles and silent auctions and helping coordinate kids’ games.
