Join us for Sibshops at the FAC, we are excited to bring back IN-PERSON Sibshops! Our January 8th Sibshop will be via Zoom, but all other sessions will take place in person at SFCC. Sibshops is a fun program just for brothers and sisters (ages 8-12) of kids with special needs. Sibshops are a place where brothers and sisters of a person with special needs come together to have a good time and be themselves. Register Here!

Valentines Day Kits

The FAC is excited to offer Valentine Craft & Activity Kits for families who have a child with special needs. The kits provide an opportunity for families to bond and celebrate the holiday. Families must register by February 3rd in order to participate. Register Here!

Self Care for the Whole Family: 10:30 AM
Wednesday, February 23rd via Zoom

Finding time for self care can be hard enough, but add kids to the mix it can feel impossible. Join Cherie Purdy (FAC coordinator) and Minda Devorkin, a certified yoga and meditation instructor, as Minda teaches us ways to take care of ourselves as caregivers and incorporate those skills into caring for our kids. We will have time to talk and chat with other parents for support and encouragement. Register Here!

Advancing Adult Compassion Resilience: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Tuesdays: January 18 – February 22 via Zoom

This group is for parents and caregivers who are struggling to find ways to balance their needs and their children’s needs. These sessions are not therapy, but they can be therapeutic. Parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to meet other parents who understand and support each other through Zoom group discussions lead by FAC Coordinator and special needs parent Cherie Purdy and B-3 Teacher Cheryl Moser. Register Here!

Topics will include:

  • How to recognize compassion fatigue and how to build your resilience
  • Develop skills to help manage expectations and set boundaries within your family
  • Practice real-time and ongoing self-care
  • Encourage risk-taking and new ideas that contribute to family success
