Milwaukee, WI – St. Francis Children’s Center has been named a finalist in BizTimes Media LLC’s Nonprofit Excellence Awards. Mara Duckens, Executive Director, is a finalist for Nonprofit Executive of the Year; Matt Wuest, Board President, is a finalist for Next Generation Leadership.

All finalists will be recognized at a breakfast event on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago St., from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The awards are designed to shine a light on the community impact of southeastern Wisconsin nonprofits. The program also salutes the work of for-profit organizations, executives and professionals who donate their time, talent and treasure to community causes. “Mara and Matt demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing a work environment that empowers every employee at every level of the organization by welcoming new ideas, celebrating successes, and delivering praise for a job-well done”, Human Resources Director, Kristin Stieger explains. “They are gifted leaders who inspire St. Francis Children’s Center employees.”

Dozens of nominations were submitted for the program this year, and 30 finalists were named in 9 different categories. An overall winner in each category will be announced the morning of the event. In addition to the awards themselves, the Nonprofit Excellence Awards program will include a Q&A with Jim Kacmarcik, chairman and chief executive officer of Kacmarcik Enterprises, and Gretchen Jameson, group president for human performance and social impact at Kacmarcik Enterprises, discussing their organization’s approach to giving back and the vision for the new Kacmarcik Center for Human Performance.
