The Family Activity Center at St. Francis Children’s Center is excited to announce its first ever All Abilities Field Day on Saturday, June 29, from 10:00 am to Noon at 6700 N. Port Washington Road in Milwaukee. This event is free and open to the public.

“The Family Activity Center is a place for families who have children with a disability to play together and meet other families in the same situation. They network and learn from each other,” explains Cherie Purdy, the Family Activity Center Coordinator.

“I have two children who both love to play with friends and do things together. But, it is hard to find activities for them to do together because my son has spastic quadriplegia,” says Cherie. “I came up with the idea [for the All Abilities Field Day] after attending a similar event at a conference. I wanted an event for our community where anyone of any ability can come and play with their family and friends without obstacles.”

“Each activity can be modified for anyone, but will be fun for everyone. I wanted to keep in mind that physical impediments aren’t the only issue so we will also have our Family Activity Center open for anyone who needs a quiet place to calm down or rest.

Children of all abilities are welcome to participate in fun games such as human ring toss, tic-tac-toe Frisbee and more! For more information on the event as well as our other FAC programs, visit our website at www.sfcckids.org/FAC.
